Camps for Kids Ages 11-13

Engage your kids in science and engineering summer camps at The Works Museum! Practice your sewing and soldering skills with one of our new camps in The Workshop, get coding with a Code Savvy camp, or explore our new camp partnership with Artistry, where kids will stretch their creative muscles as they combine art and engineering in exciting new ways. Our summer camps for ages 11-13 are ideal for girls and boys. Summer camp season at The Works Museum is alive with enthusiasm and creative engineering.

Learn to use a sewing machine to create a backpack from scratch! Once your backpack is made, use conductive thread to connect a string of lights that turns on when your bag opens and turns off when it closes.

Build a custom sign using LED lights. You’ll learn to use a soldering iron to make electrical connections, use a drill and driver to build a frame, and program an Arduino to display your light patterns.

Create mobile apps with App Inventor programming language! Explore the basics of programming, testing, and debugging by building some simple apps, then design one of your own. Apps created will only run on Android devices, but owning one is NOT required for camp.

Create a web page using HTML, style CSS, and make it interactive using Javascript. You will leave the class with a published webpage.

Enhance your Minecraft skills with code! Create events, build structures, and add new items to the game. Test your creations in a browser simulator or your Minecraft PC account.

Tips for Camp Registration:

  • Want a 5-day experience for your camper? Add on a Friday Fun Day to the regular camp week.
  • Want to try a 1-day experience? Register just for Friday Fun Days or look at our July 4th week camps.
  • The session you wanted is full? Get on the wait list to be notified if we’re able to add extra sessions.
  • Want a full-day experience? Register for an a.m. and p.m. camp. We supervise campers while they enjoy lunch from home and play between camps.
  • Drop-off begins at 8:30 for a.m. camps and at 12:30 for p.m. camps.
  • Pick-up is from 12-12:30 for a.m. camps and 4-4:15 for p.m. camps.
  • By registering for camp you attest that you have read and agree to the camp and cancellation policies of The Works Museum.
