Kids hands on engineering

Design Lab

Last chance in the Design Lab!

Our Design Lab as you know it will permanently close after Sunday 9/3. This space will be under construction this fall, with an exciting new visitor experience opening in December. Curious about what’s to come? Watch our social media and e-news for updates!

A unique feature at The Works Museum, our Design Lab features science projects and engineering design challenges you can do at your own pace. Experiment and explore to your heart’s content! Challenges are set up with multiple stations. Set your own pace and work alone, challenge someone else, or work collaboratively.

Current challenges through 9/3:

Q-BA MAZE

Build an awesome marble run using interlocking cubes!

Shish-Ka-Ball

Engineer a web of sticks to hold up balls in a tube. See how many sticks you can pull out while dropping as few balls as possible!

Airplane Lift Off!

Construct your own airfoil and explore what makes airplanes fly.

Pendulum Drawings

Draw on a piece of paper as it swings on a pendulum to create beautiful designs.
