Summer at The Works Museum
Summer has looked a bit different this year and we’ve had to be agile and adapt to new circumstances. Through each new and unexpected challenge, the team at The Works Museum has still been busy designing, engineering, and having fun!
In June we launched 8 new virtual camps. Check out this interview with Kare 11 to see how virtual camp works. “I can tell that [my daughter] is enjoying the camps because she explains (in long detail) all the work she is putting into her projects. Very cool to see her so engaged!” says a virtual camper’s parent.
In July we began a limited number of in-person camps with reduced camp sizes and new social distancing and cleaning protocols for safety. We’ve also been visiting YMCAs and other essential childcare facilities to deliver small-group workshops at their locations.
Another new option for keeping young engineers busy this summer is our At Home Engineering Kits, which were recently reviewed in the Star Tribune.
So far this summer, we’ve been able to engineer with 4,486 children from across the Twin Cities metro and beyond – as far as Florida and Maryland!
We’re incredibly proud of our campers, who have demonstrated their creativity and perseverance time and time again. We wanted to share some of their projects so you can see for yourself.
