Tech Fest Family STEM Event

Engineering is everywhere – in products we use, in medical technology, and in design. At Tech Fest, families can explore the wonders of technology with dozens of hands-on activities. Test out virtual reality, experiment with robots, launch a rocket, make bath fizzies, and much more! Tech Fest makes for an amazing family outing on a winter weekend.

Explore the Museum with your family

Gather your family or schedule a play date with a friend and come discover why parents love the open-ended activities and easy-to-supervise floor plan of The Works Museum.  Build K’Nex racers and send them into our crash zone, create foam brick structures, evade detection in the Sensor Maze, and more.  Dig in with your kids to discover your inner engineer or bring a friend and catch up while your kids explore together. Yes, you can actually do that here – our smaller size and open floor plan lets you keep an eye on everyone.

Take a class together in The Workshop

Plan a special day with the young maker in your life and take a class in our creative space, The Workshop. Use a sewing machine to make a backpack (that lights up!), make your own soldered pendants, create a stop-motion animation movie, and more. Classes are for kids ages 9 to 99.

Come to Robot Day for hands-on robotics fun

From DIY jiggle bots, to humanoid robots, to robotic mechanisms used in manufacturing, Robot Day is all about the many different types of robots and how they work. Check out robotics demos, try your hand at programming, meet other kids competing in robotics leagues and see their robots in action. Robot Day is fun for the whole family!
