Join us in Optimism

We could all use some good news.

The Works Museum provides opportunities for kids to explore how things work. A core engineering habit of mind – optimism – is the belief that things can always be improved. Just because something has not been done, does not mean it cannot be.

Through our hands-on engineering experiences we help kids learn to persist through challenges. Whether it’s by testing ideas, trying new designs, or accepting that failure is an essential part of success. This is central to our mission to inspire the next generation of innovators, engineers, and creative problem solvers. 

Now, we find ourselves more grateful than ever for the persistent, optimistic community we’ve built. 

Like many small businesses, the current closure has created unprecedented challenges for our organization (read the full statement from our CEO). This time of year, our museum would usually be full of spring break visitors: campers, field trip groups, and families, all exploring the amazing world of engineering together. 

While our doors remain closed, we need you – our community – to join us in optimism. We want to hear from you, whether that’s engaging in our online community and telling us why The Works Museum matters to you, sharing engineering at-home successes (and failures!), advocating for us, renewing your membership, or if you are able, making a gift. 

In return, we promise to continue to share with you good news about our local heroes to ensure tomorrow’s best minds are inspired by the possibilities of STEM and the many ways engineers and scientists make our world a better and safer place.

Our small but mighty team is working hard to be ready to welcome you back as soon as it’s safe to do so and we look forward to what the future will bring.
